Armadale Line 18 Month Rail Systems Closure

Works to the Armadale Line encompassing the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project (LXR), Byford Rail Extension (BRE), Thornlie Cockburn (TCL) and associated Network and Infrastructure (N&I) projects, are to be constructed under an 18 month closure scheduled for late 2023. 

A closure of this extent has not previously been performed on the PTA Rail network, and our team are engaged to align internal and external technical rail systems stakeholders with regard to the required scope or works.

This engagement spans the works required prior, during and post the 18-month period across the entire Armadale Line, to ensure continuity of the rail systems.

Forrestfield Airport Link Rail System Integration

  • Traction Power and Signalling;

  • Bayswater Junction Tie In;

  • N&I Line Energisation
    and Blockage Train;

  • TTO Emergency arrangements;

  • Trial Running and Driver Training; and 

  • FAL Opening Event.

The primary objective of these engagements was to identify key risks that would impact the successful commissioning and Entry into Service of the new line, and to identify owners and mitigations for these risks.

Other objectives included identifying stakeholder requirements, operational requirements, and to inform key PTA personnel outside of the project.
